The Beach Boys

Hailing from the Southern California city of Hawthorne, The Beach Boys got their start in the early 1960s as teens in a garage band when the founders and original members, Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, Mike Love, Carl Wilson and Dennis Wilson, began singing psychedelic tunes encouraged by the Wilson brothers parents to perform music. The Beach Boys draw their cultural and musical influences from their Southern California teen beach life and R&B and rock n roll legends, including Chuck Berry and Johnny Otis. Later joined by members David Marks and Bruce Johnston, The Beach Boys continued to influence the public sphere as innovators of the California rock music genre.
