Moogfest is an annual musical celebration honoring the innovative spirit of Robert Moog, whose extraordinary electronic musical inventions opened up new worlds of creative possibilities that changed the course of music forever.
In 2010, AC Entertainment took the helm and completely reinvented and revitalized the festival. Moogfest was moved from New York City to Asheville, NC – Bob Moog’s adopted hometown and the headquarters of Moog Music – and expanded into to a 3-day event, presenting concerts by more than 60 world-renowned visionary artists such as Massive Attack, Big Boi, Four Tet, MGMT, Panda Bear and Devo, in a variety of venues throughout Asheville’s beautiful, historic downtown. In one year, Moogfest grew from a concert attracting several hundred people for one evening in a NYC club to a major event attracting nearly 30,000 people to Asheville, NC, for an unforgettable Halloween weekend.
From major arena concerts to intimate club performances, Moogfest’s rich array of offerings attracted a smart, savvy, culturally aware audience from nearly all 50 states and throughout the world. The festival also offered fans unique opportunities to connect with artists through workshops and discussions, as well as to explore their own musical creativity in interactive sessions with Moog instruments. Unique and compelling art installations and exhibitions, along with film screenings, rounded out a thoroughly engaging and inspiring weekend for audiences and artists alike. ACE has brought Moogfest into the next dimension, making the annual event one of the most talked-about festivals in the country. But most importantly, all of this is done while staying true to the essence of Bob Moog’s visionary and creative spirit.
Moogfest 2011 will be rocking it out again Halloween weekend, October 28 – 30th.
